Fields of application
Primary Immunodeficiencies (PID)
Deficiencies of the immune system can be congenital or acquired (e.g. in the context of an HIV infection). Congenital immune defects can be overlooked for years due to unspecific symptoms – and thus remain untreated. It is possible that organs are already damaged in this phase, so shortening the time to diagnosis and initiation of therapy can improve the lifespan and quality of life of those affected. Questionnaire-based diagnostic support tools have the potential to shorten the time to diagnosis and facilitate presentation in specialized diagnostic centers. Experiences of KImedi have already been published internationally (DOI https://doi.org/10.3389/fimmu.2017.00384).
